ECU African Students Organization to host 6th annual Cultural Explosion
East Carolina University’s African Students Organization will host the 6th Annual Cultural Explosion at 6 p.m. Nov. 15 in Hendrix Theatre on campus.
The event will showcase talents that represent a variety of cultures and cultural organizations on campus. Students will express themselves through music, dance, singing, fashion, step routines and poetry. Cultural Explosion is free and open to ECU faculty, staff and students.
ECU psychology major Leroy Ediage, ASO head historian, said events like the Cultural Explosion are important because they “build unity between students and give us a chance to show off some real, and often hidden, talents.”
One of a dozen cultural organizations on campus, the ASO provides a social network for African and non-African students, while educating the ECU community about African issues, cultures and values. The group was formed in December 2005 and has grown to more than 50 members.
