College of Nursing speaker shares insight on military return after deployment

The College of Nursing hosted a guest Nov. 8 to honor Veterans Day and to further the college’s commitment to prepare students to care for members of the military and their families.

Lt. Col. Felecia Rivers, Ph.D., presented her research “U.S. Army Nurses’ Reintegration and Homecoming after Deployment to Iraq and/or Afghanistan.” The event was jointly sponsored by the College of Nursing and the ECU Office of Engagement, Innovation and Economic Development.

Rivers also provides consultation to the college task force to support the national Joining Forces campaign, an initiative led by the White House and First Lady Michelle Obama.

ECU is one of more than 500 across the nation and 21 nursing schools in North Carolina that have pledged support for the initiative.
