Readers’ Theater performances begin Sept. 22
Story about terminally ill patient who wants to die
The Readers’ Theater group at East Carolina University will hold three performances this fall of “A Question of Mercy,” a short story by Dr. Richard Selzer about a terminally ill patient who asks a physician to help him die.
Performances will be Sept. 22 at 5:15 p.m. at the ECU College of Nursing Room 1150, Sept. 25 at 10:30 a.m. at Unitarian Universalist Congregation at 131 Oakmont Drive in Greenville and Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Hamlin Student Center at Barton College in Wilson.
Readers’ Theater is a production by ECU medical and nursing students. In readers’ theater, performers read from scripts and do only a small amount of action on stage. Like radio dramas, much is left to the listener’s imagination. A discussion follows the performance.
Readers’ Theater is sponsored by the Department of Bioethics and Interdisciplinary Studies at the Brody School of Medicine and the ECU College of Nursing.
