Nanoscience roundtable to be held at ECU

A roundtable discussion of safety in nanoscience will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 20 at the East Carolina Heart Institute.
The event, entitled “An Ounce of Prevention: Developing Safe Nanomaterials for Commercial Use,” draws leaders in nanoscience from government, academic and industry to network and share solutions that conserve energy and resources while eliminating the generation of hazardous substances.
Schedule of activities for the roundtable is as follows:

5:30 – 5:35 p.m. Welcome, ECU Vice Chancellor for Research Deirdre Mageean
5:35 – 6:05 p.m. Nigel Walker, deputy program director for science, National Toxicology Program, National Institutes of Health,  National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences
6:05 – 6:35 p.m. Jared Brown, assistant professor of pharmacology, East Carolina University
6:35 – 7:05 p.m. Gary Casuccio, vice president, RJ Lee Group
7:05 – 7:10 p.m. Closing remarks
7:10 – 8 p.m. Networking

This event is a collaboration between the Center of Innovation for Nanbiotechnology (www.nanobiotech.org) and Science at Starlight, a regional intellectual exchange group, organized by the Eastern Region office of the NC Biotech Center.
