ECU celebrates International Education week
From free films to lo mein, East Carolina University’s international community will share their cultural traditions in celebration of International Education Week, Nov. 17 through Nov. 21.
Activities include lunchtime international smorgasbords, study abroad informational sessions, and a student panel focusing on international education.
With more than 245 international students representing 54 countries, and nearly twice that amount of ECU students who study abroad – more than 400 at last count – ECU’s cultural diversity is ever-growing, said William Mallett, of ECU’s Office of International Affairs. There are also more than 100 international faculty members from 30 different countries at ECU.
“Since I have been at ECU, I have noticed that the institution has increasingly acknowledged that the campus community is enhanced by the presence of international students, faculty and scholars and further broadening the education of its U.S. students by exposure to people from other countries and cultures,” he said. “The week full of activities underscores this.”
