Concert to benefit Grimesland clinic
A Feb. 10 concert by the East Carolina University Symphony Orchestra will help raise money for the Grimesland Free Clinic.
The concert begins at 3 p.m. in Wright Auditorium on the campus of ECU. The concert is free, but a $10 donation is requested. A silent auction to benefit the clinic begins at 2:30 p.m.
Conductor Jorge Richter will lead the orchestra as it performs Heitor Villa-Lobos’ “Preludio” from “Bachianas Brasileiras No. 4”; Dmitri Shostakovich’s “Violin Concerto No. 1, Opus 77” featuring violinist Leonardo Perez; Sergei Prokofiev’s “Lieutenant Kijé Symphonic Suite, Opus 60”; and Georges Bizet’s “L’Arlesienne Suite No. 2.”
The Grimesland Free Clinic is a student program sponsored through the Brody School of Medicine at ECU and Pitt County Care. With a special focus on Latino populations, the clinic serves uninsured people of Pitt and surrounding counties. The clinic is open Sundays from noon-4 p.m. and is staffed by area physicians and ECU medical students.
Tax-deductible contributions to the clinic may be mailed to the ECU Medical & Health Sciences Foundation, Office of Regional Health Services, Attn: Ginger Vann, 525 Moye Blvd., Greenville, N.C. 27834. Please make checks payable to the ECU Medical & Health Sciences Foundation.
