Book about ECU penned for prospective students

GREENVILLE, NC  —   A new book written by an East Carolina University English instructor gives prospective students an insider’s look at campus and academic life at ECU.

Leanne E. Smith’s book, “East Carolina University: Off the Record” (College Prowler, 2007) will soon be in bookstores across the state.

Smith, an ECU alumna and Greenville native, wrote the book in 2005 while she was pursuing her master’s degree in English at ECU.

“Even though the guidebooks are geared at high school juniors and seniors who are considering particular schools, the ECU book is also appropriate for students after they arrive at ECU for classes,” Smith said. “Whether they’re new to college life and/or Greenville, they can benefit from the easy-to-read ‘insider info’ about the ECU student experience.”

The publisher, College Prowler, recruits students from campuses across the country to write about their respective campuses, weighing in on academics; local atmosphere, attractions, and culture; campus dining, housing, facilities, safety, and parking; and student organizations, population, and diversity.

ECU is the third UNC System university, following N.C. State University and UNC-Chapel Hill, to be featured by College Prowler.
