Johnson named to student affairs role

Todd Johnson, associate vice chancellor for campus living, dining, and transit at East Carolina University, has been named interim vice provost for student affairs effective immediately.

The vice provost position is new and will oversee student affairs areas including housing and dining, recreation services, transit, student health services, student union and student experiences, Ledonia Wright Cultural Center, marketing, career services, and the dean of students office.

Interim Provost Marilyn Sheerer, announcing the appointment, said, “Todd Johnson has brought an innovative, energetic approach to his work with housing, dining, and transit. In addition, he has considerable expertise in fiscal affairs. I look forward to working closely with him as he assumes wider responsibilities.”

Johnson joined ECU in 2004 as associate vice chancellor for campus living and dining services. He previously worked in various student affairs and business services positions at North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University, the University of Maryland and Pennsylvania State University.

He holds a bachelor’s degree from North Carolina Central University and a master’s from the University of Maryland and has recently completed the Institute for Management and Leadership in Education program at Harvard.
