Third annual Jean Mills health fair, symposium to be Feb. 9-10

GREENVILLE, N.C.   (Jan. 12, 2007)   —   The third annual Jean Mills Health Symposium will be held Friday and Saturday, Feb. 9-10, at the Hilton in Greenville.

The symposium will address current health issues affecting African-American and Hispanic populations.

Friday’s workshop will be 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and is targeted at health care providers, community leaders from rural eastern North Carolina and ECU faculty and students who have an interest in the topic of health disparities. Saturday’s program will be 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and is open to the public with free exercise, fitness and cooking demonstrations, nutrition information, recipe exchanges, health screenings and educational literature.

The health fair is presented by the East Carolina University School of Allied Health Sciences in collaboration with the ECU Medical Foundation, Pitt Memorial Hospital Foundation and Eastern Area Health Education Center.
