Ophelia closes most Brody School of Medicine clinics

Because of Tropical Storm Ophelia, most patient-care services at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University will be closed Wednesday.

The Pediatric Outpatient Center will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the Family Medicine Center will be open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for acute-care patients only.

This satellite image from the National Weather Service shows Ophelia as it swirled off the coast of the Carolinas early Tuesday afternoon.

Adult hematology/oncology patients will be seen for scheduled appointments in the Leo W. Jenkins Cancer Center. Also, scheduled dialysis patients will be seen in the Nephrology and Hypertension Center at 2355 W. Arlington Blvd. near the medical campus.

Classes are also canceled Wednesday for all medical students.

Normal operating hours should resume Thursday, though delays may occur. Patients, employees and students should call 744-5080 or (800) 745-5181 for updates.
