Eleven ECU physicians chosen by peers as “Best Doctors”
Eleven physicians from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University have been chosen by their peers for inclusion in the 2005 “Best Doctors” listing.
The annual list is published in the July edition of Business North Carolina magazine. Best Doctors Inc., a Boston-based group, surveyed 30,000 physicians across the United States who previously have been included in the listing asking whom they would choose to treat themselves or their families. According to Business North Carolina, about 4 percent of the 20,000 physicians who practice in North Carolina are on the 2005 list.
The ECU physicians selected this year are Dr. William Burke, dermatology; Dr. W. Randolph Chitwood Jr., thoracic surgery; Dr. John M. Diamond, psychiatry; Dr. George Ho Jr., rheumatology; Dr. Howard D. Homesley, obstetrics and gynecology; Dr. J. Frank James, psychiatry; Dr. Bruce E. Johnson, general internal medicine; Dr. Yash P. Kataria, pulmonary and critical care medicine; Dr. Samuel S. Lentz, obstetrics and gynecology; Dr. C. Steven Powell, surgery; and Dr. Marcus E. Randall, radiation oncology.
Also included in the 2005 list are two Greenville private practice physicians who hold clinical appointments with the medical school. They are Dr. W. Ray Gammon of Eastern Dermatology and Pathology and Dr. Robert Shaw of Physicians East, pulmonary and critical care medicine.
