Local students to participate in health careers program

Twenty-two rising 10th graders from across eastern North Carolina have been selected to participate in the 12th annual Ventures Into Health Careers Institute at East Carolina University.

The two-week program gives minority students an opportunity to explore medicine, nursing, physical therapy, medical laboratory work and other health-related careers at ECU, Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Pitt Community College and other locations. The program includes observation of health professionals at work, seminars and workshops on academic preparation for health careers, and personal development and self-awareness activities.

The Eastern Area Health Education Center sponsors the program at ECU.

The program runs from June 12-24. Following is a list of participants by county:
