Tipton named to ECU board

Mark Tipton, a Raleigh-based developer, and longtime supporter of East Carolina University, has been named to the university Board of Trustees by the University of North Carolina Board of Governors.
Tipton, managing partner and owner of Whistler Investment Group and a former president of the National Association of Home Builders, will be sworn in for a four-year term at the board’s July meeting. He will replace Dan Kinlaw, whose board term will expire.

Tipton, a 1973 graduate of ECU, is a member of the ECU Foundation Board of Directors and received an Outstanding Alumni Award in 1994.

The Board of Governors at its March meeting also reappointed Margaret Ward of Burlington, Robert O. Hill Jr. of Kinston and Joel Butler of Greenville to four-year terms on the ECU board.
