Interim Joyner Library Director named
Darryl Davis, a longtime East Carolina University administrator, was named interim director of Academic Library Services today.
Davis, a special assistant to the vice chancellor for academic affairs, previously served for 10 years as dean of ECU’s School of Industry and Technology. He was also an associate vice chancellor for technology and distance education.
“Dr. Davis has a long and distinguished history at East Carolina University,” said Dr. James LeRoy Smith, interim vice chancellor for academic affairs. “I appreciate Dr. Davis’s willingness to take on this very important task. His leadership experience and experience in technology will serve the library well during this transition.”
Dr. Dorothy Muller, assistant vice chancellor for regional and campus academic initiatives, will assist Davis and the library faculty, staff, and administration during the transition period. Muller has also served as dean of undergraduate studies at ECU.
“I am appreciative that both of these ECU veterans have agreed to work with us as we transition to a new director of Academic Library Services,” Smith said.
Carroll Varner, the former library director, resigned in February.
