ECU recognized for distance education
(Aug. 9, 2001) — East Carolina University has received the first award for excellence given to a university by the North Carolina chapter of the U.S. Distance Learning Association. Dr. Diana M. Henshaw, special assistant to the vice chancellor for academic affairs, said the award recognizes the university’s leadership in distance learning and campus-wide efforts to provide access to distance-learning opportunities.
The award was presented last month at the statewide North Carolina Distance Learning Alliance conference in Fayetteville, where Henshaw was named president of the organization. Several ECU faculty members made presentations at the meeting.
Association members include universities, community colleges, corporations and public schools.
