Ward joins ECU’s Board of Trustees

Margaret C. Ward of Burlington, a noted civic leader and a longtime supporter of East Carolina University, has been a member of the Board of Trustees since she was appointed by the University of North Carolina Board of Governors in October of 2000. Ward holds two degrees from ECU. She and her husband, Robert A. Ward, a former chairman of the ECU board, are major benefactors of the university, and the Ward Sports Medicine Building on the campus is named for them. Margaret Ward is a member of the ECU Foundation Board and the Alumni Association Board. She also is a former member of the board of the Greensboro Symphony, past chair of the Board of Visitors of Elon College and an active volunteer for the Alamance Arts Council. In 1992 she received the Alumni Distinguished Service Award. She is a member of the Pirate Club and an active supporter of the College of Education.
