Building named for state senator

The East Carolina University Board of Trustees voted on May 14 to name the new life sciences building at the School of Medicine for NC State Senator Ed Warren of Greenville. The $14 million building, which will provide 60,000 square feet for research, is scheduled to be completed this summer and occupied by the fall semester. The formal name of the facility will be the Edward Nelson Warren Life Sciences Building. Chancellor Richard Eakin said, “East Carolina University has no greater friend than Ed Warren. The board’s action today recognizes his long-standing and deep interest in the university and the School of Medicine and his well-known and strong advocacy for research and treatment of cardiovascular illness.”
