ECU to host conference on technology in classrooms

GREENVILLE, NC   (Mar. 22, 1994)   —   Two leaders for state and national efforts to improve communication and delivery of information will address a conference at East Carolina University, Thursday (March 24) at 7:30 p.m. in Wright Auditorium.

Charles M. Rush, the chief scientist for the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, will be a featured speaker at the School of Education’s Teaching and Technology Conference. Rush and fellow speaker Jane Patterson, an advisor to Governor James Hunt, will give their outlook on the “Development of the Information Highway and Its Impact on Public Schools.” The presentations are free and open to the public. 

The annual Conference on Teaching and Technology starts on Wednesday and continues through Friday with sessions at the Hilton and Ramada Inns. Daily conference presentations will focus on using communications technology in public school classrooms. The conference will also feature exhibits of video and computer equipment and software at the conference sites and special demonstrations on using technology in education, art, journalism and in the sciences on the ECU campus. School teachers from across the state will attend the three-day program. This year’s theme is “Connections: Linking the Classroom to the World.”
