2020-21 Parking Permits for Students and Faculty/Staff

We all know that COVID-19 has impacted the university community, as it has parking and many other operations on campus. There are some important changes related to the parking permit renewal process that you will want to read about below.

STUDENT PERMITS

ECU parking permits for currently enrolled students have been extended from July 31, 2020, until at least Sept. 1, 2020. This includes permits for zones used by students.

If you are a returning student with a 2019-20 permit, you will continue to use your 2019-20 student permit during this interim time. Commuter students who purchased a resident permit last year are required to park in commuter lots beginning Aug. 1, 2020.

All current permit holders will be emailed information about renewing/purchasing a 2020-21 permit later this fall. There is no rate increase for 2020-21.

Permit sales will continue beyond the sales start dates above as space allows, after which you may apply for the waiting list.

2020-21 Permit Renewal for Existing Students:

  • When 2020-21 ECU Parking Permits go on sale later this fall, all orders will be placed online through PiratePort and permits will be mailed to the address indicated on the order/renewal. 
  • There will be no on-site purchasing until further notice.
  • The annual permit fee will remain the same for the 2020-21 academic year.
  • There will be no prorating of annual permit fees when purchasing a permit this fall.
  • There is no charge to park in the Main Campus Student Center Parking Deck through Aug. 1, 2020.

2020-21 Permit Purchase for New Students:

  • 2020-21 ECU Parking Permits go on sale July 20 for new students who do not currently have a permit.
  • All orders will be placed online through PiratePort and permits will be mailed to the address indicated on the order. 
  • There will be no on-site purchasing until further notice.

How to purchase your annual permit and register your vehicle(s):

  • Visit ECU PiratePort. You will need your Pirate ID and passphrase.
  • Click the Parking & Transportation application or type Parking & Transportation in the search box.
  • Click the Manage Account button to update or verify your information. Please include a valid telephone number.
  • You will need your license plate number, vehicle year, make, model and color.
  • If everything is up to date, click Parking Portal on the top left hand side.  Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Get Permits and follow the directions.

ECU Parking & Transportation ONLY accepts Visa, MasterCard, and Discover online.


FACULTY/STAFF PERMITS

Current ECU parking permits for zones used by staff and faculty have been extended from June 30 to at least Sept. 1, 2020. You will continue to use your current 2019-20 permit, which remains valid in its designated zone during this interim time. All current permit holders will be emailed information about renewing/purchasing a 2020-21 permit later this fall. There is no rate increase for 2020-21.


Additional Information for staff and faculty using payroll deduction for their 2019-20 parking permit:

  • Payroll deductions will continue during this interim period unless you opt out in PiratePort by June 30, 2020, by selecting the Parking and Transportation option.
  • If you choose to opt out of the payroll deduction now, and want to purchase a permit in September, you will have to pay the full annual permit price at that time.
  • If you have an A Zone permit, you must continue your payroll deduction or your A zone permit will be offered to other eligible employees on the waiting list. You will not have the opportunity to renew an A Zone permit this fall, if you do not continue payroll deduction.
  • Staff and faculty are encouraged to continue their payroll deduction, and simply renew their permit when announced this fall. No action is needed at this time, if you continue your payroll deduction.

Additional Information for staff and faculty who paid in full for their 2019-20 parking permit at the time of the order:

  • If you paid in full for your 2019-20 permit when ordering (cash, check, credit card), you may continue to use that permit until September.
  • When you renew your permit in September, you will be asked to pay the full annual cost of the permit at that time.

2020-21 Permit Renewal/Purchase:

  • When 2020-21 ECU Parking Permits become available for sale, all orders will be placed online through PiratePort and permits will be mailed to the home address indicated on the order/renewal.
  • There will be no on-site purchasing until further notice.
  • The annual permit fee will remain the same for the 2020-2021 academic year. There will be no prorating of annual permit fees, with the exception of new staff/faculty beginning after September.
  • New staff/faculty beginning employment prior to Sept. 1, should contact Parking and Transportation Services to purchase a parking permit.
  • There is no charge to park in the Main Campus Student Center Parking Deck through Aug. 1, 2020.
