Clark is a 1996 graduate of the School of Communication in the College of Fine Arts and Communication at ECU. He started his career in sales and operations 21 years ago in minor league baseball with stops in Kinston and Norwich, Connecticut, as well as with the Lakewood BlueClaws, where he helped start the Philadelphia Phillies Single A affiliate in New Jersey.

After 10 years in baseball, Clark joined the Houston Rockets of the NBA, focusing on partnership sales. He then worked in professional football, managing the Miami Dolphins sponsorship group for a year. Clark went on to become the vice president of team sales at Madison Square Garden, where he built sponsorships and managed the partnership sales revenue across the New York Rangers, Knicks and Liberty.

In 2013, Clark joined Fenway Sports Management, where he develops sales infrastructure and guides the sales team in delivering sponsorships that connect the company’s clients with the audiences they wish to reach. He sells integrated sponsorship and marketing partnerships across the sports group’s portfolio of properties, and also oversees the sponsorship and marketing sales efforts for FSM’s exclusive property representation clients.

John and his wife Keri live in Natick, Massachusetts with their sons, 5-year-old Jackson and 3-year-old Tyler.

“I’m excited to be coming back to ECU for fall commencement,” Clark said. “ECU broadened my perspective in so many ways and provided me with the platform to pursue the opportunity to work in sports in the first place.”

More than 2,200 Pirate graduates will receive their degrees this fall, including 1,607 undergraduates, 640 graduate students and 41 doctoral students.

Many of ECU’s colleges, schools and departments will hold unit recognition ceremonies during commencement weekend. A complete listing can be found at http://www.ecu.edu/commencement.
